Napoleon Hill in his famous book “Think And Grow Rich” coined the term Mastermind. Hill originally said that when two people got together, a third mind, the Master Mind, was created.
Hill described the Mastermind principle as, “The coordination of knowledge and effort between two or more people who work towards a definite purpose in a spirit of harmony…no two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind”, also known as, the Mastermind.
Hill further has noted: “No mind is complete by itself. It needs contact and association with other minds to grow and expand,” and he explained the Mastermind as a master-key to success. You can use it to, “open the door to the attainment of your definite major purpose in life.”
The extremely successful businessman, Andrew Carnegie attributed his entire fortune and success to his Mastermind group. Carnegie has been said to have acquired a net worth of upwards $372 billion (realize that quoted numbers for his wealth are all over the place depending on how the estimation has been made), a lot of it derived from his US Steel empire.
Henry Ford would mastermind with brilliant thinkers like Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone, and others. In England, a mastermind group of writers and poets included CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, Charles Williams, and Owen Barfield among others. Two classic works of literature emerged from this group: The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings.
A Mastermind is a group of people who convene on regular basis to share ideas, thoughts, information, feedback, contacts and resources. The Mastermind group also helps you propel forward and with a certain level of accountability that naturally arises, ensures that you do the action steps that you said you were going to do in order to progress further with your business, with your results and with your personal development.
A Mastermind can be powerful because it empowers members to share skills, resources, experiences and insights to help find solutions to each other’s challenges. There is a kind of magnification of the combined qualities of each member, when it’s done right.
Success has to be planned and earned in advance. It’s the old idea the before you receive, first you must give. Through being in a Mastermind group you provide service to others, because when they bring their problems to the group, you can help to solve those problems.
A great Mastermind group can be the cornerstone of your next great achievements. It is, however something that most people overlook. In fact most people I come across never even heard of a Mastermind group or know what it is.
Outside of running my own Mastermind groups here within The Pitzner Business Solutions platform, I also participate in Mastermind groups of others. The more time I have spent consciously building and nurturing my business network of advisers, colleagues, clients, students, and fans, the more successful I have become.
The Pitzner Business Solutions focuses on improvement of businesses, achievement of goals and personal development. In other words, the ideal Mastermind candidate owns his or her own business. The Mastermind group provides confidentiality, encouragement and sometimes the tough love that we all need from time to time.
The Pitzner Business Solutions Mastermind group allows new candidates to join from time to time, as vacancies become available. We aim to ensure there is a good fit among all members in the group.
